Vigil for Iraq, Poetry and Choral Music
(Oct 2009)

An evening concert of music and poetry by local artists honoring the dead, the wounded, the grieving, and the dispossessed. The show will feature two new choral works Prayer for Iraq by David Rounds and Three Fingers of Light by David Smith. In each case the lyrics were co-written in collaboration with fine poets: David Smith-Ferri & David Rounds, and Theresa Whitehill & David Smith.

The Ukiah Valley Madrigal Singers will be singing, and Benj Thomas will narrate. Clovice Lewis, Jeff Ives and Burton Segall will play the viola, cello and bass in Three Fingers of Light. David Smith-Ferri and Theresa Whitehill will read as well.

Friday, October 16 at the Ukiah Players Theatre, 1041 Low Gap Road, 7:00 p.m.

Jammin' in the 21st Century

Musae Womens Chorus and Bossa Five-O
(May 2009)

Musae women’s vocal ensemble presents The Road Home, a concert with Bossa Five-0, and will be premiering a commisioned work “It’s Muse Light” by David Smith as part of the program.

Wind Trio at the Tallman Hotel
(Mar 2009)

Lake county wind trio will perform at the Tallman Hotel in Upper Lake California. The performance will include a piece of David’s When Time Expands, arranged for bassoon, bass clarinet and English horn (Ann Hubbard, Nick Biondo, Beth Aiken).

Concerto Anacapa Premiere
(Feb 2009)

David’s Concerto Anacapa for Piano and Orchestra will be premiered by Elena Casanova and the Ukiah Symphony at the Mendocino College Performing Arts Center, 1000 Hensley Creek Road, Ukiah Calif.

David Smith will be one of two composers featured at a.Muse Gallery in San Francisco on Nov 8, 2008. The Musae Womens Ensemble is sponsoring this event to introduce the commissioned composers.
